Sunday, July 25 at 1:00pm at Spirit of Brandtjen Farms in Lakeville. http://homesofspirit.com/locationMap.asp

This is a day of fun for kids with cancer. We will be doing a 30-45 min demo, including disc & agility. We will also have a therapy dogs available to interact with the kids.

If you want to participate, post here. And let me know if you can demo agility.

Disc demo:
Brian-Rocket & Jack
Paul-Grady & Shiner
Tania- Lok & Jun
Larry- Ora & Jasper
Cathy- Zac & Zoe
Sean- Maverick

Agility demo:
Cathy-Zac & Zoey
Chris- Lumos & Bree
Jodi & Hoss
Shelley & Grady

Kid work:
John & Lady
Tina & Dozer
Brit & Madeline
Jodi & Ruby
Laurel/Albert
Paige/Marshal??
Steve/Lindsey & Lucky

Here's a list of other activities for the day:

· 8am - Run/Walk registration
· 9am – All Terrain 5/10k Run Start
· 9:30am – HopeKids Walkathon Start
· 11:00am – Kids Fun Run
· 11:30am – Mascot Race (featuring 7-8 local mascots!)
· 12:00pm – Lunch (you mentioned you wanted to invite friends—which again, we’re completely fine with. If they want to come at lunch time, we just ask for $5/person to cover the costs)
· 1:00pm – Disc Dog Demo
· 3:00pm – The event should be wrapping up

Other activities available after lunch:
· Swimming pool, playground, swingset, basketball (shoot hoops with "Crunch"), beach volleyball
· Minnesota Swarm "Buzz Zone" for the kids to learn Lacrosse from Swarm players
· Elko Speedway will have their pace car, HopeKids supporter Doug Brown will have his NASCAR
· Rad Zoo exhibit featuring reptiles and other interesting creature
*********************************************************************************************************EDIT- This event is expecting 400+ people. As you enter the farm, there will be the original farm house to your left. The road directly in front of it will be blocked but let them know you are with MNDDC & they will direct you to unload right in front of the house. You will then be directed to a parking space. The grass area next to the house is where we will be demoing. I have asked the handlers with therapy dogs to arrive by 10:30 so they can interact with the kids at 11am as they watch the 5k. At noon, everyone will come to the center grassy area, right between the clubhouse & the house we are next to, for lunch. You may eat there if you want. It does cost $5. This is their biggest fundraiser of the year & they have quite a bit of sponsorship & a number of notables coming for the event.
We will do an agility demo first, tear down the field & do a disc demo. Then the therapy dogs will interact with the kids as much as the kids want. Please be professional & keep an eye on your dogs. If they seem to be getting stressed, please take them to their crates. I know you all know how to interact with the public but we do have people that aren't in the club who will be participating. Help them out if they need it.

I will create another thread with duties, order of appearance, etc. If you have questions, let me know.

Lumos, Bree and I could participate in this-we'd prefer to demo agility, please. We even have some equipment we could bring if needed-weave poles, a tunnel, some jumps and a mini teeter.

Yes, totally. You'll keep them informed of time & place, ok?

Did they mention they have any rules regarding the dogs? In other words would they like to limit guest dogs to those that are registered therapy or would they be open to CGC dogs as well? The main reason I ask is some people have well behaved, kid loving dogs who only have their CGC and not their delta or TDI yet who said they would love to help.

I'll double check with her.

Here is her response:

"Therapy Dogs are great! After the morning activities, families are welcome to do whatever they want at the venue. You will be able to interact with the kids as much as you/they wish. If you have particular guidelines for us, like having parents at hand—please let us know."

Hmmm, doesnt really answer the question of whether or not they would prefer only certified therapy dogs present but since she stated she doesnt mind our dogs interacting with the kids I assume they dont require TDI/Delta certification.

We are doing fine --- we have jumps, weaves, a tunnel, and maybe a little teeter.
