Purpose: A fun game to encourage the development of freestyle routines by encouraging new teams who may not have 2 minutes worth of material to fill a whole routine to try out freestyle, and by encouraging experienced teams to continue to improve their routines and develop new tricks and sequences.
Rules: Each team will have up to 15 seconds to perform their best freestyle trick or sequence. Using less than 15 seconds will not impact the score.
Scoring will be out of 15 possible points, with up to 5 points awarded for the difficulty/creativity/ingenuity of the routine, up to 5 points for flow/style (how well/smoothly is the trick/sequence executed), and up to 5 points for success/catch ratio. Categories are scored to tenths of a point from 1.0 to 5.0. One judge will score each category and scores will be added to produce the team's final score. Scores from one category will not affect scores from the other categories. E.g., catch ratio will not affect the other two categories. Teams are encouraged to bring out their most difficult and innovative moves, rather than "playing it safe" to ensure a high catch ratio.
A minimum of one disc must be thrown and caught (takes will not be scored--rollers will) for the routine to receive a score, but the handler may throw as many discs as he/she would like within the 15 second period. If a handler chooses to perform only one trick with one throw and the throw is missed, the handler may attempt the trick again as many times as he/she would like within the 15 second period, however, multiple attempts will likely affect the score. If a trick or sequence is performed successfully the first time, additional successful attempts of the trick will not increase the score.
There is no limit on the number of discs the team may bring onto the field.
Time starts from the word go, not from the first disc thrown--i.e., there is no pre-routine. No custom music will be used.
