Amy and I just got back from greece and rome. Was an interesting trip for sure. One interesting thing about greece and dogs is that most greeks like animals, so much so they pick up strays, tag them, spay/neuter them and put them right back where they got them. They have a tendency to stay in a certain area and a lot of the locals and tourists will feed them. However most greeks are reluctant to take a dog into their home so most of the dogs in greece are strays. Here are some pics I grabbed in Athens and on Santorini.

There is also a couple pics of "pet" dogs but the majority were strays.

Here is a link to more general pics of the trip if interested. http://canidography.smugmug.com/Other/Greece-and-Rome/23015036_QTWbMp

Cool photos! Was it hard to leave them all there?

The urge wasnt very strong to be honest. They all looked well fed and happy. Most of them laying around were just chilling due to the heat. Often times they would be running around in groups like they had someplace to go and knew exactly where they were going.

I suppose the "American" thing to do is feel sorry for them because we believe they should all be in houses...but really, they look as happy and healthy as they can be in the photos. What a life!

Happy or not, I would have loved to have a couple of those cuties!

If they get fixed, fed, and cared for as needed, it's probably not such a bad life.
