Hello and welcome to the Minnesota Disc Dog Club 2012!

My name is Brian Bruzek, and I am the President of the Minnesota Disc Dog Club. I want to
welcome the many new members I have met this year as well as give a shout to all of
my longtime Discdoggin’ friends that make the MNDDC the amazing group that it is!
The year has just begun and there are already many things in the works for the 2012 season.
(You may have noticed some changes to the website and the forum already, BIG THANK YOU’S to
Cathy Whitney and Sean Silvernail!) On January 1st, we welcomed in new board members as well as a
new President and Vice President, and together we are bringing some exciting changes and new ideas
for the upcoming season! More opportunities for you and your dogs to learn and bond, more
opportunities to compete and make new friends. This year we are bringing back the Minnesota Cup,
which will be a travelling award that is being handcrafted by Apryl Lea as I am writing this.
It’s a format in which we take your best 3 scores from 5 events over the course of the season. The team
with the highest total gets their name engraved on the Cup and earns the right to keep and protect the
Cup for one year, after which they present it to the next Minnesota Club Cup Champion. Complete rules
and details will be made available soon. We are currently looking for a new venue for our Fall UFO
competition, one with more spectators and events around it. This may be the competition where the
Club Cup is decided, and would add a big event later in the season to showcase our dogs to a new
audience. We have already had 2 indoor playdates and the turn-out to both was so good to see, several
new teams were in attendance and all of us are building momentum for the start of the 2012 season.
You can feel it – those of us that have been with the club for awhile can tell something is different about
the start of this season – there is a lot of excitement and a lot of new ideas flying around. I’ve just
touched on a few here, we’ve also got Judges training coming up, and we’re planning a group trip to
one of the major out of state competitions this summer. So here we go, whether you plan on playing
with your dog in the backyard and want to learn a new trick, or whether you plan on travelling around
the country in pursuit of a Championship, the MNDDC will be there to help make 2012 the best season
possible for your dog and you, I hope you’ll join us.
